Dear Residents,
This letter is to inform you about items that should never be flushed down the toilet or poured down any drain. These items can cause clogs, slow down drainage, and even lead to sewer backups, impacting your home and our community's infrastructure.
Specifically, please avoid putting the following down the drain:
Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG):
Even small amounts of FOG can harden and clog pipes over time. Dispose of FOG in the trash or in a separate container.
These include baby wipes, cleaning wipes, and even those labeled "flushable." They often don't break down properly and can cause major blockages.
Like wipes, paper towels don't dissolve like toilet paper and can clog pipes and pumps.
Tampons, pads, and similar items can get caught in plumbing and cause blockages.
Don't flush unused medications. Dispose of them safely through a local medication take-back program or by following the instructions on the medication packaging.
Other non-flushable items:
Include things like cat litter, rags, diapers, food scraps (especially stringy or fibrous ones like celery or corn husks), and coffee grounds.
Please also note:
Only flush toilet paper and human waste down the toilet.
Be mindful when using a garbage disposal. Avoid putting items like bones, fibrous vegetables, or seeds down the disposal, as they can cause blockages.
By following these guidelines, you can help ensure a clean and efficient sewer system for everyone. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our community healthy and safe!
Regards,
HDRS Casa Village, LLC.
